WRC Club Championships

What is the Club Championship?

An annual club competition between the members of WRC.  The aim is to introduce a new fun and social way to get into running competitive races with your fellow member runners and a great way to try new races and possibly even new distances.

Who is eligible to enter?

In order to be eligible to take part in the Club Championship, WRC must be your first claim club.  The championship is open to all ages and abilities.

You must wear a WRC Club vest or t-shirt and you must be a fully paid up member of the club for the year of competition.

You must also enter the race under WRC as club name as this makes things easier when analysing results.

How will it work?

The Championship will run from April to March in line with our club year.

The results are split between different age categories for our male and female runners and a separate results table is kept for each. We nominate a number of races over the course of the year that are eligible to score you points

Club members earn points over the course of the club year by participating in designated races.

How do you earn points?

Points are allocated to every club member who takes part in a listed event and will be adjusted using an age grading system.

Age grading takes your time and uses the world record time for your sex and age to produce a score (a percentage). This score allows you to compare your personal performance against other people’s performances even though they might be a different age and a different sex to you – the higher the score the better the performance.

Age Grades are calculated to allow rough comparisons between all our participants and should not be taken too seriously. For example, age grading makes no allowance for different weather conditions or the varying terrains of our courses.

The championship is decided by totalling up the lowest 5 scores for each runner, and the runner with the lowest score is the champion for their category.

There will be two categories for Men and Women, those under 50 at the start of the club year, will be classed as seniors. Anyone over this will be classed as Vets.

Therefore come the end of the competition, there will be 4 winners, one from each category.

Our members enjoy some fab benefits, such as 2 club run nights per week, training sessions, coaching and mentoring and access to our members only Facebook page.

There is a variety of WRC club kit available from Touchline

We have different running routes for different abilities. Once every month all the groups run the same 5KM route to help you move up a group.

The time we use for Club record purposes is that which is shown in the official race results (chip time).
